What is the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA)?

    • The IEA is an affiliate of the United States Equestrian Federation, the United States Hunter Jumper Association, and the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. 
    • The IEA was established to provide competitive and educational opportunities through equestrian athletics.
    • IEA provides greater affordability and access to the sport because riders don’t need to own their own horse or tack to participate. 
    • IEA is comprised of multiple Zones located regionally and Zones are divided into smaller Regions.
    • Team Cadence is in IEA Hunt Seat Zone 7 which includes Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Cadence Equestrian Center is home to both a middle school and upper school IEA Hunt Seat equestrian team. The middle school team is grades 4-8 and the upper school team is grades 9-12.

Riding for and competing with IEA provides our riders with the opportunity to be a part of a supportive team environment, while making friends and having fun. Through this experience we make every effort to: 

✔ Support the goals of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association. 

✔ Build confident and skilled riders through quality training, team support and competitions. 

✔ Receive Potential College Scholarships for our riders from the IEA.

✔ Enhance College Attractiveness. Even if the rider decides not to participate on an  equestrian team in college, participation in IEA can be tremendously beneficial on  college applications.

Congratulations to our 2026-2027 Team Cadence athletes!

Tryouts for our 2026-2027 IEA have passed. Team Cadence will hold its next IEA tryouts in Summer 2027 for riders interested in joining our 2027–2028 IEA team.

Application steps:

  1. Submit a tryout application form (tryout applications for 2027-2028 will open Dec 2026).
  2. Accept email invitation to team tryouts. 
  3. Attend tryouts.
  4. Riders will be notified if they have been selected.
  5. The first practice for the 2027-28 season tba.

Note: All riders who apply and/or attend tryouts are not guaranteed a position on the team.
